Jaipur is a city in Rajasthan, founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II, and named after him. Jaipur is a picturesque location dotted with royal palaces, forts, and temples that still keep refreshing the pages of colorful history. The entire city was colored pink by the Raja during the visit of Prince of Wales, as pink was considered to be the color of hospitality. This tradition has been kept alive till date, as every household is required to sustain its pink color by law. Through years of re-painting, many houses adorn a more reddish-hue which is equally aesthetic to gaze at.
The most famous location is the Jantar Mantar, which is a UNESCO declared World Heritage Site, that houses fourteen distinct devices that can measure and track time. Another classic favorite sightseeing spot in Jaipur is the majestic honeycombed Hawa Mahal, that was designed to improve the air circulation of the interiors even in soaring temperatures. With 950 windows, this building was used by the royal women to look out the bustling streets without being noticed from the outside. The City of Palace is a beautiful place to visit as well, divided into sections like the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Jal Mahal and so on.
